Welcome to Rostow Tai Chi. I’m Alexia Rostow, a Yang-style (Tung Family) Tai Chi instructor in the Portland (Oregon) area.

Tai Chi Chuan

Tai Chi Chuan is a Chinese internal martial art and meditation exercise. Also called “meditation in motion,” the practice of Tai Chi focuses on relaxation, concentration, and body alignment. Yang Style Tai Chi Long Form consists of 108 slow and graceful movements that work to strengthen the body and relax the mind through the circulation of Chi (vital energy). Regular practice of Tai Chi has been proven to reduce anxiety, improve balance and coordination, and even decrease high blood pressure.  Tai Chi is an excellent activity for everyone who wishes to calm the mind, strengthen the body, and leave feeling energized!

Qigong

Qigong is a Chinese system of physical exercises and breathing control related to tai chi. It is literally translated as “breathing exercise.” Qigong can be described as a mind-body-spirit practice that improves one’s mental and physical health by integrating posture, movement, breathing technique, self-massage, sound, and focused intent.
